Just because you worked one night shift, doesn’t make you a hero - I have had day shift colleagues who have had to work at night due to short staffing, sick or family leave, then they work one night shift and are patting themselves on the back for making it through one night shift. Now try doing that for over 5 years and see how you feel? If some problem comes up at night, I have to take care of it myself - I don’t have a manager I can go running to (like a crying child running to their Mommy or Daddy). I have to find a way to deal with it at night if it can’t wait until the manager comes in and hope I made the right management decision.
